Low Rent Housing, Section 8 Housing and Community Development Program

Hours of Operation: Office Hours: Monday - Friday 8AM - 5PM

Application for Low Rent housing are taken Monday thru Friday from 8AM until 4:30PM. Section 8 applications are taken on Wednesday only from 8:30AM until 4:30PM. All housing applications are taken at the Central Office located at 125 Preston Street, Jackson, TN. Requirements to process application: Birth Certificate and Social Security card for all members that will be living in the household.

Rents on these housing complexes are based on your family income. Rent would be no more than 30% of your income.

Eligibility: Based upon income and background check.

Fees: None

Service Description: To provide quality assisted housing and supporting services to low and moderate income persons.

Counties Served: All (Housing units located in Madison County)

Low Rent Housing: 1027 Units

Section 8 Housing: 876 Vouchers and Certificates

Community Development Program administers Community Block Grant Funds, HOME Program, and Emergency Shelter Grants. Eligible activities:

• Small Business Loans

• Public Service Grants

• Economic Development

• Neighborhood Revitalization
